C4C48 – Sydney grandmother wins supercar!
We had some trouble getting hold of the latest Mater Cars for Cancer winner of lottery No.48. It wasn’t until almost a month later that the grandmother from Sydney received her brand new car.
Like on all draw days, the whole Mater lottery team crowded into one office and the winner’s was called on speaker phone. We all stood in utter silence waiting for the phone to connect – but all heard was an engaged signal. After half a dozen failed attempts to phone the winner, we sent a letter and sat back waiting patiently for her to receive the exciting news.
It wasn’t until late Tuesday afternoon, almost two weeks later, that the lottery Marketing Manager received a phone call from the very shocked grandmother from Sydney.
Returning from holiday after the Australia Day long weekend, our winner had found an unexpected tracked parcel in her mail. To her surprise, the letter informed her that not only had she won a super car worth $82,841, she had her choice of three – a HSV Clubsport R8, an FPV GT or a WRX STI Spec.R!
After reading the letter, she quickly rang her husband to let him know the good news. All he could say on the other line was a disbelieving “what?” She happily informed him that it was “not just any car, I have a choice of 3!”
Two weeks later the proud winner picked up her brand new WRX STI Spec.R when she and her sister were in Brisbane. The pair both attended the hand over and planned to drive it home making a few visits to family and friends on the way.
When asked what reaction she had from people hearing her news, she said the majority of people say “wow, people actually win those cars!”
C4C41 – First Prize Winner
A retired public servant from Victoria who spontaneously purchased tickets in the latest Cars for Cancer raffle has won the keys to first prize!
The purchase turned out to be a great reward for Peter Kehoe who is now the owner of a shiny new FPV. Peter coaches athletics in his spare time and purchased tickets in the ‘spur of the moment’ without any expectation of actually winning.
“I thought, it’s a good charity to donate to [and] it’s not a bad thing to win!” says Peter.
In fact, Peter said that when he received the winning phone call, he was trying to figure out who would be playing the joke on him.
Now that Peter knows he really has won, he tells us he will be selling as he simply has no need for this kind of car… but he does love the engine and will be forever amazed by this great win.
C4C40 – First Prize Winner
Can you imagine what your first words would be if you found out you had won your choice of V8 ute? The down to earth winner of the latest Cars for Cancer lottery only needed a second to think about it - “Get outta here” she yelled into the phone.
It didn’t take Susan long to choose the roaring HSV Maloo R8 and she flew up from Sydney with her sister to pick up her brand new car and take a leisurely road trip back home.
Although she is a car lover, Susan’s main motivation for purchasing Cars for Cancer Lottery tickets is all about forwarding cancer research. She experienced the tragedy of cancer first hand when both her parents passed away due to this devastating disease and wants to prevent others from facing the same thing.
As a motorbike enthusiast she uses her hobby for a good cause and frequently goes on pink ribbon motorbike rides and other conveys to help accelerate the race for cancer prevention and better treatment.
Keep an eye out because the lucky winner will now be cruising the streets in a very stylish V8, and keep your fingers crossed as well, because you never know you could be next!
